The Russian car market grew by 31% in January

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles grew by 31.3% in Russia in January and they were 102464 cars. As noted in the AEB, the 31% growth, partly caused by the low base of last year, is notable in the sense that it is the largest monthly increase on YOY basis, starting from 2011.

You can expect positive sales dynamics in the short term, although, probably, with a smaller scale. Buyers respond well to current offers on the market, realizing that special conditions for cars produced in 2017 are limited for the reason that the sale of the stocks of dealers is faster than in previous years, says in the association.

Leadership in the Russian car market is held by AVTOVAZ, which sold 21,005 LADA cars in the last month, which is more by 29% than a year ago. Second place in terms of sales was occupied by KIA - the sale of 15,310 cars (+ 49%) provided the Korean brand with leadership in the foreign car market. The third place is occupied by Hyundai with the figure of 8752 sold cars, which is more by 31% than in the previous year. Then Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 7880 buyers (+ 51%). The top five of leaders is closed by Volkswagen, whose sales grew by 22% and they were 5593 cars.

The TOP-10 of the best-selling brands also included Nissan (5376 units, + 27%), Toyota (5151 units, + 34%), Skoda (4501 units, + 26%), Ford (3132 units, + 39%) and GAZ (2574 units, + 12%) in January.
