The Russian car market grew by 9% in March

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles grew by 9.4% in March to 137894 cars in Russia. According to the results of three months of 2017, the Russian car market grew by 1% to 322464 cars, according to the data of the Association of European Businesses.

As noted in the AEB, finally, the sales trend in the Russian car market is moving in the right direction. A 9% growth YOY in March was sufficient to compensate for the smaller-scale losses in January and February, by turning the combined result of sales in the first quarter into a small plus. It is good news for the Russian market, which has not seen a positive result for the quarter for more than four years. However, as they say, one swallow does not do spring. We need to have more months with a positive result before you can call it a strong trend, believe in the association. Recall, according to the forecast of the AEB, in 2017, the Russian car market could grow by 4% to 1.48 million cars, by interrupting the 4-year period of the fall.

Leadership in the Russian car market is held by AvtoVAZ, which sold 25110 cars in the last month, which is more by 13% than a year ago. Thus, the demand for LADA models is growing for the ninth consecutive month. The second place in terms of sales was occupied by KIA - the sale of 14614 cars (+ 18%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai returned to the third place with 14219 sold units, which is more by 29% than the last year. Then Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 11274 buyers (+ 19%). The top-five of leaders is closed by Toyota, which sold 9709 cars (+ 18%). The TOP-10 of the best-selling brands by the results of March included also Nissan (8068 units, -6%), Volkswagen (6953 units, + 16%), GAZ (5009 units, + 6%), Skoda (4853 units), + 1%) and UAZ (4582 units, + 3%)
