The Russian car market in February rose to the fourth place in Europe

The automotive market of Russia, which fell out of the top-five in Europe in January, rose to the fourth place in the European rating in the previous month, ahead of Spain and Great Britain.

According to data, obtained by the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the national associations of European automakers, Germany remains the leader by car sales in February, where it was sold 243602 cars (-2.6%). Italy took the second place, whose result was 183777 cars (+ 6.2%). As it was noted in the Italian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ANFIA), this is the best figure for February from 2010, despite the high base of last year. The third result was shown by France – 161,885 sold cars (-2.9%).

If, during the considering of the European car market, we to take into account Russia, our country has risen to the fourth place of the European rating. According to the estimates of the agency "AUTOSTAT", car sales in the last month were about 100 thousand units (excluding LCV). The top-five of leaders is closed this time by Spain, whose car market remained at the last year's level and it was 97,796 cars (0.2%). As the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Cars and Trucks (ANFAC) noted, the stabilization of demand is explained by the completion of an incentive program to subsidize the purchase of new fuel-efficient vehicles.

In addition, the UK dropped out of the TOP-5 of the largest car markets of Europe in February, with a figure of 83115 sold cars (-0.3%). As the British Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Auto Dealers (SMMT) noted, this month, there is a decline in sales traditionally, while in March, it is expected again a surge in demand.
