MIMS Automechanika Moscow 2016: the industry has problems, still it has professionals to resolve them

The 20-th edition of MIMS Automechanika Moscow ,the International Exhibition of spare parts, automotive components, equipment and products for car maintenance was held in Moscow from August 22 to 25. It was organized by ITEMF Expo established by ITE Group and Messe Frankfurt.

This year 1022 companies from 40 countries demonstrated their products and services. Seven national pavilions accommodated on a common platform many exhibitors from Italy, France, China, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan. The total exhibition area exceeded 41 000 square meters. For 4 days of the exhibition about 30 737 visits by professionals from 59 countries and 79 Russian regions were reported. 58% of the visitors came to the exhibition to search for products and services for their business, therefrom the share of managers and purchase decision-makers accounted for 48%.

The exhibitors presented their auto parts, repair and maintenance services, accessories and tuning, equipment for car washes and service stations, automotive electrical components and components of electronics, solutions for management and IT technologies. Spare parts and solutions for freight transport were presented in Truck competence special section.

B2B-meetings were held during the exhibition with Asian auto parts and components manufacturers. Japanese manufacturers - Avtovaz Renault Nissan Purchasing Organization, Calsonic Kansei RUS LLC, JSC ISUZU RUS, Mitsuba Teklas Rus LLC, TAKATA RUS LLC, who established their production facilities in Russia, organized a presentation of the technologies these companies are planning to buy from Russian suppliers, and they conducted workshops to unveil their plans for localization of production and also held negotiations with Russian suppliers.

Among the sponsors were KYB, Delphi and Kamsky Motor Works.

Moscow International Automobile Forum (IMAF) was successfully held on the second day of the exhibition. It was held for the seventh time this year and was dedicated to the topic of “The Russian car industry: whether the turning point has arrived?” Every year the number of this forum participants tends to grow and the status of the event has improved. The increased interest among the visitors and exhibitors was generated by the presentation held by Mr. Nicolas Mora, the President of AvtoVAZ, who delivered for the first time his profound analysis of the market. In addition, the announced plans by  AvtoVAZ to launch eight new car models during 9 years were also met with a great interest by the audience.

The plenary session was also participated by the General Director of Renault Russia Andrei Pankov, by Kirill Epstein, the Director of GAZ Group Automotive Components division, by Massimiliano Perry, the business director of Iveco Russia, by Yaron Vidmeyer, the CEO of Continental Tires and other authoritative speakers.

The number of IMAF participants this year exceeded 200. Apart from that, more than 70 direct negotiations were held between automakers and wholesale buyers with suppliers. IMAF obtained partners this year among the leading international companies: T-Systems Continental Tires, DLA Piper, KPMG, ABBYY LS and AZ Enterprise LLC, and Gayane's.

In 2017, the 21-th edition of MIMS Automechanika Moscow, International Exhibition of spare parts, automotive components, equipment and products for vehicles maintenance will take place August 21-24 in Expocentre.
